I am a NINJA
Working in the city is a very new experience for me. There is plenty of fodder for my internal dialog and every time I walk down Westminster St. with Niv we give each other the look... You know, like when you pass the 600 lb woman waddling down the street wearing hot shorts, or when you pass the man that is literally screaming "BLAH BLAH BLAH mmm hmm BLAH BLAH BLAH" to himself. There are more crazy people down here than I anticipated. here are some other observations that I have made this week:
- When the mercury rises, the crazy people come out
- Also, when the mercury rises, it smells somethin' awful out there (like
fishy-B.O.-foot smell).
- The RISD kids look more put together and coordinated than some of those "career
women" floatin' around.
- Sh!t burns down REAL QUICK down here
- People refer to Rt. 95 and Rt. 195 as THE 95 or THE 195 (WTF is up with that?)
On another note, part of training consists of assessments. Since I am a "Time Management Ninja" (as deemed by one of said assessments) I finished all the mandatory ones up quickly and therefore have to take supplemental ones. I got to take the Temperament Sorter test and my results were pretty much on target:
Guardian-Protector (ISFJ)
Establishing and following a familiar daily routine is critical to your well-being. In your ideal job environment, you and your coworkers are "on the same page." Though you prefer to stay in the background, tending to your own work, you feel unsettled and vaguely ashamed when other people are derelict in their duties.
Guardians tend to be both helpful and dutiful, with a strong work ethic that can take them far. Indeed, this group can serve as the very cornerstone of society. In your own life, you may find that you can deal with others' disabilities or neediness better than almost anyone else around you. Although you are very caring, you're not typically one to be outgoing and talkative. Protectors like you are warm-hearted and sympathetic. Your reserve really ought to be seen by others as an expression of your sincerity and sense of purpose. You're probably quite happy working alone regardless of the task. You're the kind to try to do everything yourself rather than delegate. Getting a job done right is important to you, but that doesn't mean that you're overly willing to walk over others in the process. You will ordinarily conduct your professional and personal affairs as humanely as possible. Protectors almost always prefer to rely on time-honored products and procedures rather than spending time speculating or experimenting. As a result, at work, you're probably not very happy in situations where the rules are constantly changing or where long-established ways of doing things aren't respected. Tradition is important to you, whether in your work life, your family life, or in your vision of society at-large. Your type often finds a kind of stability in the social rankings conferred by birth, titles, offices, and credentials. This traditional nature can also rub off by making you a wonderful keeper of your family history, property, and heirlooms.
Here is where the evaluation goes terribly wrong:
As the thriftiest of the sixteen types, Protectors like you seem to know the value of a dollar. As a result you can abhor the squandering or misuse of money. Putting something aside for a rainy day is something near and dear to your heart. In your efforts to be financially stable, there are times when you may overwork yourself to the extreme. Try to be mindful that it's all right to take a break from time to time. Give yourself the credit and kudos that you're due, as others who are less hard working will rarely be able to appreciate the true value of your dedication and contributions.
