The things that get my goat

Ok, so my biggest question to all of you out there is this… Are we as human beings capable of handling the issues of "moral values"?

I was listening to NPR on my way to work this morning and they aired a bit on the FCC and last Monday Night Football's introduction promo. Apparently it was for Desperate Housewives, I didn't witness this myself but it is described as this. The actress Nicolette Sheraton is shown wearing a towel in the company of some famous football player. She proceeds to drop her towel and jump into the football player's arms. During this whole interaction you only see her bare back. Well I guess there were some complaints about its indecency and the FCC is investigating. This is what gets me really pissed off I don't see the indecency! Seriously I watched LAX last night on at 8pm mind you and you know what, there was a pretty intense sex scenes (for network television) and I didn't get offended. Are we, as a society, really THAT incapable of handling sexual content?

The same people that find these things indecent are the same people who have their teenagers going out and doing the very same acts that they find indecent. Do you see the connection here? I could be wrong but it is in my observation that people, who are less restricting, bring up children who are generally more behaved. It's the parents who are highly restricting that end up with the problematic teenagers! Now, this is my own theory. There is no scientific data to back this up, just my own experiences.

I really resent that Middle America has now claimed itself to be our moral value police. Are we not an advancing society? Then why are we going backwards in terms of the "moral values"? By the way can someone PLEASE tell me what is exactly defined as "moral values"? My impression is that this is a matter of religious values not moral values. It seems like the Midwest is trying to impose it's religious values on the whole nation. Did it ever occur to them that this is meant to be a diverse nation? Apparently the only diversity to be found is on the East Coast, West Coast and in Hawaii.

Today's experiment = FAILED

I have been trying to implement more healthy foods in my diet. The number one thing is yogurt. I have issues with yogurt. I can eat whipped or custard style yogurt with no problem, but there is just something about plain regular yogurt that I have difficulty with. I think it may have something to do with the consistency of it. Well, in an effort to expand my healthier eating, I have tried mixing yogurt with granola. This has worked tremendously! I enjoy eating my yogurt with granola. Now, I am venturing into other flavors and brands. I know that I like Stonyfield Farm, so I have been exploring their flavors. Today though, I had a BIG miss! I had what I thought was vanilla, but apparently I didn't read the label good enough because it is vanilla truffle. So, I am sitting here at work, all excited about my yogurt and granola for breakfast. I open the yogurt and it looks like something that spewed out of a dead animal! I smell it and like always, it smells AWFUL. I put it into a bowl and mix it furiously so it doesn't look like I am eating some poor animal's entrails then I add granola to make somehow more appealing. I take a nice big bite of it and it makes me want to wretch, instantly! The moral of this morning's horrible breakfast is… PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THE LABEL. I wouldn't have picked this up if I had read the label good enough.

The wonderful world of being ahead of the game

I have done it! I have accomplished a task in a timely manner! See, I have my November color scheme and header just about perfect now! The only things left to finnish here are the other page's headers and content! This is just one step closer to being ahead of the game. This weekend, I may even start planning December's scheme! I just LOVE schemes.

It was nice to run accross this today.

Where will we be in 4 years?

Hopefully still alive...

There are so many thoughts and so little ways to project them without sounding angry, so to put it nicely. The first item on my list this morning is the fact that the republican party is, again, the dominant party in the government and it is slightly stronger than before. As a result, there is seemingly no good to come of this regarding the issues that concern me. Now mind you there are very few good republicans out there, the first one coming to mind would be John McCain but that is about it. Not to mention that there were elected officials out there that believe abortion should be banned and that gay and single women (with children or without I cannot recall at this time) should not teach in the public school system. You mean to tell me that people actually thought these men have good ideas? Secondly, I am highly disappointed to hear (second hand with no proven source) that the percentage of young people out there voting didn't really exceed the last presidential election, so much for the youth of America making a difference. Thirdly, I am annoyed with the media coverage this morning. They seemed like they were demonizing Kerry for not conceding last night/early this morning. I'm sorry but in 2000 didn’t Bush refuse to concede initially (I could be off base with statement I realize)? Either way according to CNN the Electoral College has yet to commit all of their findings. Bush hasn’t reached 270 yet so why the pressure for Kerry to concede?
